What is a Mandala?
The word "mandala" comes from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit.
Most commonly translated to mean "circle," a mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself both beyond and within our bodies and minds.
Mandala forms and patterns exist in all aspects of life from the celestial circles we call earth, sun, and moon to the more conceptual circles of friends, family, and community.
What does the Mandala process offer?
Creating a mandala is a form of active meditation that combines the mindful based practice of art, science, and spirituality to achieve a greater connection with the authentic Self. The mandala process promotes physical, spiritual and emotional well being and can be practiced individually or within a group.

The process of creating mandalas for healing is based on Judith Cornell's life long work with the mandala and mandala facilitation training program. She is the author of Mandala: Luminous Symbols for Healing.
